Credit Card Automatic Updater Services

  • 5/22/2018

What you need to know

If you’ve used a credit or debit card to pay recurring bills automatically, you’ve probably received a notice when your card on file expired. Warnings like these may become obsolete as merchants subscribe to automatic updater services provided by Visa and MasterCard. What this means to you is that services you pay for using a credit or debit card that the merchant keeps on file will no longer be disrupted when your card changes or expires. Instead, new card information will be passed along to subscribing merchants when you activate your new card; they will always have your most up-to-date payment information.

This updating service will make it convenient for those who don’t want to have to contact every company they do business with to update card information; however, if you would prefer to opt out, just call the credit union, and we’ll add an opt-out flag to your account. 800.897.6991.

As always, you should check your credit card and bank statements carefully each month for unauthorized charges, and be sure to contact the company when you no longer want to make automatic payments.
